Latin Quarter UK

Casa Latina (named in honour of the legendary NYC record shop) opened in Leeds at The Underground in February 1995 and was a massive success, running until 2002. In its time it attracted such heavyweight artists as Eddie Palmieri, Issac Delgado, Maracca Valle, Jimmy Bosch, Johnny Polanco, Cubanismo, Manolito y su Trabuco, Pucho & The Latin Soul Brothers, Charanga Habanera to appear there and it set the template for all UK latin clubs to follow.

Inspired by all these and learning from Colombian Tanya Cusan Espinosa and Brazilian Cristina da Silva, three friends that liked to work together and were crazy about salsa got together at the end of 1995 to form The Latin Quarter.

They taught all over Leeds, Bradford, Manchester, Derby, York, Birmingham and many more…

All Leos (born in 3, 7 and 20 of August), they conquered the heart of everyone who has ever crossed their path… like us.

Nicolai!Nicolai (Charmer)

Charming, very articulated, smooth, sophisticated, extremely polite, with all the qualities of a salsa teacher.

Fun, graceful on the dance floor, very charismatic. When he dances, the ladies are thrilled, the men are just charmed.

Nicolai is a true friend to everyone and he has got a heart of gold.

But he doesn’t answer his phone and he doesn’t keep in touch. J

Nicolai has his own project – fuego latino, together with his partner Helen.

Alan!

Alan (Cheeky) Sabroso

DJ, R&B, Latin Pop, very animated. He got into this craze because one he was told he couldn’t dance :).

In the classes he wants to make the students have more fun and have something taught while having fun, to make people feel good, in an atmosphere that is not threatening. One of the warmest hearts you can find, Alan’s grooviness is famous, and his animations are amazing. Alan continues to be a mechanical engineer during the day, and also running The Latin Quarter UK.

Alan!

Ces (Sweetie)

One of the veterans of the salsa scene in Leeds; he’s been there forever! One of the longest established teachers in Leeds. Events’ organiser.

All the ladies love him. Professionally he’s a Footballer coach for kids (training St Kitts national football team). Calm, he has a claming factor, brilliant dancer and character, very balanced person. He loves to dance, would travel from here to Timbuctu to dance salsa. Chocolate lover, good ambassador for salsa. Mr. Salsa through and through.

Ces has set up his own company latinXces to promote salsa dancing, together with his partner Kerry. http://www.latinxces.com/
